A few minutes later, I put it back together and the screen lit up and then faded. Holy cow. I went up to my apartment and hit the computer...google told me to put the phone in a bag of rice, to absorb any moisture. I did that and sat back on my couch. On my coffee table, I noticed my very beat up old blackberry, which I never sent back to T-Mobile for a rebate. I have looked at that old blackberry so many times and wondered how I could have used such a beat up phone, so thankful for my pretty new one. So, I popped my sim card into the old one and it worked. Procrastinating sometimes has benefits.
Update for today: tried the phone this morning and now there is nothing. I am still in shock that such a small amount of diet coke would destroy my blackberry. I have to come up with a plan soon, I can't use this old one much longer. The rollerball-which was replaced twice sticks so badly, it is going to give me arthritis!
So, is this all an exercise in karma? I really should have stayed off the diet coke!

Oh no, that's awful! I really hope everything works out in the end.
what about coke zero? does that count? hope you get a pretty new dry one soon!
I did the EXACT same thing with an LG Dare in a cup of apple juice. I can't even believe that I'm hearing another story like mine. I ended up taking a break from the Dare, really for a few months, since that's what all the websites say, and it works miraculously! It periodically shuts off when I'm at the VERY bottom of my list of texts and sometimes unlocks itself when I over-charge it, but I can still text and call. If you can borrow a friend's phone for a little while, take a break from the current BBerry and see what happens. If nothing does, then send it back. BEST OF LUCK!! I was in your shoes!!!
That is the worst feeling. I had a water bottle that leaked in my bag on my phone and was so mad at myself! It happens to all of us! xx
